Noteable Quotes – Things to Ponder

Thoughts to Ponder

Fools, Liars, and Traitors

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious.

But it cannot survive treason from within.

An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly.

But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.

For the traitor appears not traitor, he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city, he seeks to infect the foundation so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.”

— Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman orator and statesman, circa 45 B.C.

H.R.645

National Emergency Centers Establishment Act (Introduced in House January 22, 2009)

If this bill passes, $180,000,000 of our tax money  will be spent to fund DETENTION CENTERS (lets call them what they are, folks) to:

    • (1) to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster;
    • (2) to provide centralized locations for the purposes of training and ensuring the coordination of Federal, State, and local first responders;
    • (3) to provide centralized locations to improve the coordination of preparedness, response, and recovery efforts of government, private, and not-for-profit entities and faith-based organizations; and

(4) to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Take a close look at number 4. What are “appropriate needs”? Who determines “appropriate needs”? Go to the link at the top of the page and read the whole thing. The only thing we learn from history, is …. that we don’t learn from history.

HR 45 – Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 (Introduced in House) Here’s part of it below….My comments inserted.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

(a) Findings- Congress finds that–

(1) the manufacture, distribution, and importation of firearms is
inherently commercial in nature;
Duh, it’s called capitalism.

(2) firearms regularly move in interstate commerce;
So do vegetables.

(3) to the extent that firearms trafficking is intrastate in nature,
it arises out of and is substantially connected with a commercial     transaction, which, when viewed in the aggregate, substantially affects interstate commerce;
Definition – Trafficking
In general, carrying on a disreputable or illegal commercial activity, such as sale of banned substances. Guns are not illegal or disreputable. Unfortunately, they will be banned if the Constitution shredders have their way.

(4) because the intrastate and interstate trafficking of firearms
are so commingled, full regulation of interstate commerce requires the
incidental regulation of intrastate commerce;
God forbid the government can’t regulate and tax our every move.

(5) gun violence in the United States is associated with the
majority of homicides, over half the suicides,
and two-thirds of non-fatal violent injuries;
Homicides are committed by criminals. Criminals don’t obey the law. What makes Congress think they will pay any attention to this particular law? Suicides are a tragedy, but what makes anyone think a law will make someone bent on killing him/herself  NOT do it? I believe suicide is already illegal, go ahead – prosecute that one!

(6) on the afternoon of May 10, 2007, Blair Holt,
a junior at Julian High School in Chicago,
was killed on a public bus riding home from school
when he used his body to shield a girl who was in the
line of fire after a young man boarded the bus and started shooting.
About 115 people die every day in vehicle
crashes in the United States — one death every 13 minutes.
Perhaps we should ban cars. We already register them, as you can see it really helps cut down on the deaths!

Go Ahead, Poke That Snake…..

Those who threaten us
and kill innocents around the world
do not need to be treated more sensitively.
They need to be destroyed.
–Dick Cheney–

After several months of rocket attacks targeting civilian populations in Israel, Hamas is getting it’s ass kicked by the IDF.

Hamas is a terrorist organization. They hide among civilians, mostly women and children and then wail loudly about the evil Israelis targeting innocents. If civilians allow these assholes to hide in their houses, then they should expect what they get. They are NOT innocent.

If you poke a snake with a stick, expect to get bitten.

Outward Bound for Veterans

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.
Arthur C. Clarke

Through generous funding by the Military Family Outdoor Initiative Project, a joint partnership of The Sierra Club and The Sierra Club Foundation, Outward Bound is offering a tremendous opportunity for adventure and self-discovery to our veterans of combat operations in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Southwest Asia (Operation Iraqi Freedom). Through a long partnership with the Disabled American Veterans organization, Outward Bound has over 20 years serving our nation’s combat veterans , offering enriching wilderness expeditions specifically designed for war veterans at no cost to the participants.

Under this program, all Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) veterans, including current and former members of the Active and Reserve Components of the United States military. It doesn’t matter what your current military status is (active, inactive, discharged, retired) as long as you deployed in support of OEF or OIF combat operations while in the military. This is a great opportunity to build a supportive community with other war veterans, facilitate discussions on readjustment and transition challenges; and re-energize and reinvigorate your spirits with adventures and challenges in the beautiful outdoors.

And the best part is it is FREE!! All costs, including round-trip travel between home and expedition location; lodging en route; and food, lodging, equipment, and instruction while on the course, are fully paid by the Military Family Outdoor Initiative Project.
