Welcome Home Jesse

Marine SSgt. Jesse C. is coming home to Fort Collins for a brief visit today. He was injured in Afghanistan in July and will be home for a week to see his Aunt Teri married. Learn more HERE.

Welcome Home, Jesse and Thank You for Your Service.

********************************************************************

We welcomed Jesse home in fine style with a Marine Corps League Bugler and a Patriot Guard Escort.  Thank you to the PGR, The Marine Corps League and Auxiliary and all the kind passers by who stopped to cheer for Jesse  as he got off the elevator.  The motorcycle escort to the hotel was awesome and there were more wonderful people there who gave Jesse a rousing welcome.

The best part was when one of the PGR guys gave Jesse a ride on his bike. It was quite a sight, with the big American Flag whipping in the breeze!!

Welcome Home Marine and Thank You!!!

Learning New Things

Since I am learning to shoot , all over again (I haven’t shot on a regular basis since I was a kid), I thought it might be a good idea to take classes. I have taken several from Colorado Shooting Sports and they are great! Fast paced, intense, and lots of fun to boot! By the end of each class, you come away with valuable experience, insights and a new appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy in this country.

The latest class I took was Tactical Medical. We learned basic first aid for major things that can kill you right now, and how to deal with them. The class was hands on, under stress and not only did we learn a lot, we all had fun. Everyone should have a basic course like this, and carry a basic Tactical Medical Kit. The life you save could be you own.

Oh, and one thing I learned real well – a properly applied  tourniquet, really hurts. That means your doin’ it right.

Colo. National Guard 3-157th Deploys

On April 17, 2009 at the Pepsi Center, Denver, CO in front of Family, Friends, Neighbors, Strangers, Military Supporters, and Military Officials, members of the 3-157th will be saying goodbye for their year deployment in Iraq. With 450 Colorado Citizen Soldiers, the State of Colorado will be sending off the largest CO National Guard Unit since WWII.
April 17th should be a proud day for every Coloradoan and American. Many of these Brave Citizen Soldiers are going for their first deployment leaving brand new families for the unknown.
After talking to a seasoned Citizen Soldier family member and a new deployment family member, the two agree on one thing… They will all need our Support! These brave men and women need to know that there is and always will be support for them where they deploy and when they are home. The National Guard in Colorado has not heard of Soldiers’ Angels. Let’s show them who we are about….Support for the Military. These Citizen Soldiers are just as much HEROES then anyone else who puts on a uniform and defends our freedoms and liberties.

Once again, I am supporting Chuck Z. Go to this page to donate to Team Chuck Z!!!

Team Chuck Z–Angels and Asphalt Fundraising Page
Folks who aren’t all there, riding for folks who can’t be there.
Thank you for donating. We’re a consortium of Milbloggers, SoldiersAngels, Riders, and ChuckZ–the sadomasochistic cripple who goads us into doing these things! We ride to push ourselves, and to show other wounded warriors that they, too can continue to achieve and excel. Chuck was wounded in 2005, and on the road to recovery, no one rides alone. Donations go towards the Face Of America Bike ride, and World T.E.A.M. (The Exceptional Athlete Matters), who hosts this event and many others for wounded warriors.

GO CHUCK!!!
