What were they thinking? Stupid people in the news.

Stupid people in the news.

Rome is burning, only this time it’s us….

The pResident is dancing barefoot on the white house (spell check suggested whorehouse, might just be appropriate…) lawn while our troops are dying,  our credit rating is going in the toilet, the stock market is dropping like a rock and nobody in DC seems to be in driving the car.

Everything seems to be normal – we go to work (if we have a job), we go to the store, we spend time with our families, life goes on….

Wake up – Rome is burning and  our elected officials are fiddling.

Shredding The Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Earlier this month, the Federal Trade Commission issued its “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising,” which they last updated in 1980. These rules  regulate what celebrity endorsers can say and how advertisers can use research claims.

The FTC has now decided that regulations covering “endorsements and testimonials” should apply to people commenting on product or services, such as reviewing the latest gadgets or fashions, through blogs, Facebook posts and Twitter updates.

Traditional media, of course, are exempt from the rules – many newspapers, magazines and broadcasters accept freebies for their reviewers.  Traditional media also appears to have it’s head so far up the ass of Democratic PIP’s (persons in power) that they can’t see daylight, which would explain why they don’t need to play by the rules the PIP’s want us commoners to play by.

I get really tired of petty bureaucrats shitting out reams of rules and regulations which accomplish nothing, cost taxpayers time and money,  have no practical method of enforcement, and are unconstitutional to boot. And then they have the gall to say they are to protect the people.  Thanks, but no thanks.  Keep the change.

So, who died and made them God, anyway?

Almost a Darwin Award…

Not quite good enough for a Darwin award – he can still reproduce with one one ball…But first, he has to find a women stupid enough to consider him as the father of her children.  Maybe he should look in Washington.

CINCINNATI, July 16 (UPI) — An Ohio judge said he likely will not jail a man whose firearm possession violation cost him a testicle. Thomas Hatfield, 30, pleaded guilty Thursday in Cincinnati to being a felon with a firearm after he accidentally shot off one of his own testicles May 4 with a .38-caliber semiautomatic handgun. He was banned from owning the gun because of his status as a convicted felon, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday. Police said Hatfield was also in possession of a single-shot 12-gauge shotgun. “Because you injured yourself, that’s kind of bad enough right there, so I’ll consider probation,” Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Robert Ruehlman told Hatfield after his guilty plea. “Obviously,” the judge told Hatfield, “you don’t know a whole lot about firearms. You need to read the directions.” Hatfield, who has previous convictions for aggravated riot and attempted aggravated arson from 1997, is due to be sentenced Aug. 6.

Good News

“Blood tests show that many survivors of the 1918 flu pandemic seem to have immunity to the current swine flu, but not to the seasonal flu that hits every year.”

Seth Borenstein,  WA Associated Press

This from findings in a study by a top University of Wisconsin flu researcher, Yoshishiro Kawaoka, that were released Monday.

Gee, I’ll bet he didn’t have a “statistically significant” sample of the population to choose from.  If you were born in 1918 you would be 91. I guess he redefined “many” while he was doing his research.

Anyway, the good news is that you will probably die from something else (like old age) before you croak from swine flu, if you survived the 1918 pandemic.  Something to look forward to!!

Tax Day Tea Party

“Taxation with representation ain’t so hot either.” — Gerald Barzan

Present BO says he was “unaware” of the tax day tea party protests.
Perhaps that is because he is “unaware” of just what his hopenchange spending spree will cost us in the long run. Nah, he just doesn’t care.

Remember, the piper always has to be paid. By someone, and I guess “We the People” get to pony up.

Media Ban at Dover Partially Lifted

I opened the newspaper at work one day this week and buried in the back, read a small story “Four U.S. Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan”.  Four US Soldiers. Sons. Brothers. Husbands. Fathers. Loved ones of somebody.

The reporter obviously didn’t care who these young men were, or who their families are. To him, they were just statistics, to be followed by the body count for the current year, compared to the previous year.

These young men will make their final journey home, touching American soil at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware.  Since 1991, the arrival at Dover has been off limits to the media, with only family allowed to be present. Sec. of Defense Gates has partially rescinded the ban, saying it will be up to the individual families to decide.

Now, I want to make it clear, I am not in the Military, and the only one in my family who served was my Father, (Navy -  WWII, Korea) and he did NOT die in the service. So, I can’t speak from the perspective of a family who has undergone the awful and sacred task of seeing your Soldier home.

However, I would like to ask Sec. Gates – Just what in the hell were you thinking? How would you like to try and deal with the burden of grief while the (caring and sensitive, NOT) press circles around you like a bunch of jackals, poking a microphone in your face and asking totally inane questions like “So, how does it feel to receive your husband home in a box?” How would you like it if the pictures of your son’s coffin show up on hate sites crowing about the death of another infidel?

Do you really think that if you allow the media access to Dover, that they will suddenly turn into kind caring sensitive souls who only have the best interest of the family in mind? That’s BULLSHIT and you know it.

Do you really think that pictures exploiting the death of a US Soldier, will let the “American people  see the full human cost of war.” BULLSHIT again. If the media wants us to see the full human cost of war, why don’t they join the Military and try PAYING some of the cost? Oh, wait a minute, they don’t want to actually have to PAY the cost, they just want to exploit it.

As Commander in Chief, Present Obama, should have declined to allow the private grief of Military families to become a public spectacle. If anyone thinks the media won’t turn this into a circus, they are delusional.

Just remember, if you don’t stand behind our Military, feel free to stand in front of them.

“Oh, and for good measure, give Biden something to do.”

I couldn’t find a contact page for him. I imagine snail mail to the White House in his name would be the best route.
