“DOH!”

From a study done at the University of Pennsylvania:

(after examining the records of gunshot wound patients over several months) “that having a disproportionately high number of [wounds] or having[wounds] in a disproportionately high number of anatomic regions is associated with negative health outcomes.” Remember this the next time you have the urge to place yourself in front of a gun.

The researchers claimed that the study could prove “the culpability of the semiautomatic pistol in worsening health outcomes.” Really? Even though they did not know what type of guns the victims were shot with, or if they were even handguns? Also suggested was the fact that even though 86.5 percent of the victims survived, that this could “potentially contribute to the perception that being shot is a survivable event.” Gee, I thought that the fact that you survived the event would prove that the event was survivable.

Since getting shot is associated with negative health outcomes, I guess I’ll try to avoid it. I just hope that no government funds (read taxpayers money – your’s and mine) were used to come up with this sterling piece of drivel research.

DOH!!
