Help a Marine Out….

“This weekend, a Marine with 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines returned home to Camp Lejeune from Afghanistan. Two days later, on Valentine’s Day, his house burned down. He was able to get himself, his wife, and his 20-month-old daughter out of the home safely. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the house burned to the ground, and the family lost everything.”

This taken from a post at Cassy Fiano

At least his family is safe!!! But – they are in need of everything. If you can help, hop on over to Cassy’s place to read the full article and see what you can do to help. Thanks!!!

Celebrating Colorado Prairie Dog Day

Reasons I like Prairie Dogs:

  1. Moving targets – like whack a mole, only with live ammo…
  2. Bubonic plague – it keeps the riff raff out.
  3. Rattle snakes have to have somewhere to live, too.
  4. The amusement factor – in new subdivisions built on top of old dog colonies…

Feel free to be pissed off.  Remember, it’s better than being pissed on.

Coming Home – A Documentary

You are invited to the Premier of Coming Home a Documentary about Sgt Jesse Cottle United States Marine.
It will screen Sun. Jan. 30th at Timberline Church 2908 Timberline Rd. Ft. Collins 80525.
The doors open at 1:30 and the film is at 2:00.  No cost.  It’s about 40 min long.
On July 19th, 2009 Jesse was seriously wounded in action in Now Zad, Afghanistan while on patrol with his EOD team and a squad from 2/3 G Company.  Unfortunately, the Taliban found out EOD were using metal detectors to locate and disarm their IED’s (improvised explosive devices).  That said, the Taliban figured out how to make IED’s with no metal in them.  During the aforementioned patrol, Jesse was struck by a no-metal-IED and sustained bi-lateral amputations due to the  severity of the blast.  Jesse’s EOD team quickly rendered aid and med-evac’ed him to a Blackhawk helicopter where he was flown to the hospital in Bastion, Afghanistan.  From there he went to Bagram, Afghanistan, then to Germany and on to Bethesda, Maryland.  His medical team there was excellent and Jesse successfully made it through six surgeries over his travels.  Jesse was then flown to the Naval Medical Center San Diego where he went through rehabilitation and prosthetic training.

Opt In or Opt Out?

I have written about organ donation before. As it presently stands, when you renew your Colorado Drivers License, you can “opt in” and become an organ donor. Our mommies beloved leaders The idiots in charge want to change that (New York style) and MAKE you a donor unless you opt out.

Now, as I stated before, I have nothing against being an organ donor. After all, if I am dead, I certainly don’t have any use for my spare parts. However, I resent a bunch of govt. busybodies telling me that I WILL be an organ donor, unless I fill out the proper forms to get out from under their thumb. This is not the function of govt.

Who gets my parts and pieces after I croak, is none of their goddamn business. If I chose to incinerate my parts warehouse , that’s my choice and I don’t want to have to fill out their paperwork so I can “have it my way”.

Oh, but, IT’S A GOOD THING, and it makes it SO MUCH EASIER. It’s just a little bit more govt, just a little bit more control, and down the slippery slope we go….

If organ donation is a GOOD THING, then go ahead – do it. It’s your choice – your conscious choice to do a good deed for someone you will never meet. It is an honorable thing, and one of the highest forms of charity, that of giving when neither party knows the others  identity.

It would certainly raise the level of organ donation, because I am certain, a lot of people would find it to much bother to opt out, regardless of how they felt about it. If the level of donation is to low, then I suggest that we think of different ways to achieve the goal of higher donations. As it stands, the organ donors themselves get nothing (of course, as they are usually dead,  this isn’t a big deal), the recipient get a new part (which may or may not work out, no returns, mileage may vary) and the medical people make out like bandits.

So what’s wrong with this picture? I can see a large flaw in that, in a money driven society, there just isn’t an incentive to donate.  Selling of organs is generally frowned upon, so that is out. But, I don’t think having Big Brother step in and decide for us as being a solution.  Donate...or else....I don’t see the govt doing much of anything really well and I’d just as soon keep them out of my life (and death) as much as possible.

Hypocrite

Colorado State Senator Suzanne Williams – You are a hypocrite. You have been pushing for stiffer enforcement of primary seat belt laws in Colorado and you don’t even require family members to belt up in the family ride.  Fatal Crash in Texas

Why do members of the ruling elite political morocracy think they know whats best for all of us peons but don’t want to abide by the same rules?

I want a job where I can vote my own raises, ignore laws, not pay taxes and pretend I’m better than everyone else.

Fucking Hypocrite.
