Marines
Support Our Marines!!
Operation Combat Boot Comfort, an organization run by one of our local “Marine Moms”, is in the running for a $50,000 Pepsi refresh grant.
They do their part – now you can do yours!! Here’s the link!
Operation Combat Boot Comfort works to find the priority needs of the front line US Marines and American troops. We send care packages and give Welcome Home Bags to our brave military that are deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The care packages contain high protein foods such as beef jerky, protein bars, hearty soups, snacks, treats, socks, hygiene items & fleece sleeping bag liners for winter etc.
Many of these troops are eating MREs, living in tents and depend greatly on care package items for their needs and comfort.
Plan~
Purchase and ship care package items (food, hygiene, socks and basic supplies needed) too the deployed American troops.
It is approximately $100 to ship a box of 6 fleece sleeping bag liners, 6-10 pairs of socks and snacks.
Welcome Home Bags are given to the troops just coming back from an Iraq or Afghanistan deployment. They are very thankful to get a new toothbrush, tooth paste, towel, snacks etc.

We Are Americans, It’s What We Do
I hear people all around me saying how irresponsible the young people of today are, how selfish, how uneducated and I have to disagree. The young people I see, those that have chosen to serve our country in the Armed Forces, are the best of the best and I would be proud to have them as my Son or Daughter any day. They are the people of this generation that will lead us into the future. They are America.
Semper Feet
Semper Feet is the brain child of Mrs. P from A Little Pink in a World of Camo. She has gotten lots of pairs of socks donated to send to the Marines and now is in need of postage for the shipping. Give a click on the Semper Feet logo to find out more!! Every little bit helps. You can donate thru Soldiers’ Angels via paypal, just be sure to note that it is for Semper Feet, so it goes into the postage fund for this. Thanks in advance!!!

My Heart Hurts
I was doing my chores the other day, and thinking about Mother’s Day. My Mom passed away many years ago, and so I was thinking of the other Mom’s that I know.
One of the Mom’s that I don’t know is Mrs. P., the wife of Cpl. Jonny Porto who writes at “A Little Pink in a a World of Camo“. Cpl Porto was killed in a vehicle rollover in Afghanistan on March 14th, 2010, leaving his wife and a baby daughter, Ariana. He never got to see his daughter.
Mrs. P. will be spending her first Mother’s Day as a new Mom, without her Husband, the daddy of their little girl.
War sucks.
My heart hurts.
Coming Home
Coming Home Teaser Trailer from Aaron Pendergast on Vimeo.
You may remember me telling about SSgt Jesse Cottle, a Marine EOD tech from my home town who lost both legs in A’stan. Here is you chance to support a film about his experiences. This is a student film, made by a friend of Jesse. Just think – for 15 bucks you can be in the movies (well close anyway)!
