Memorial Day

Memorial Day 2011

This video is a Veteran Day tribute, but I think it is a good reminder about the men and women of our Military who have our back on a daily basis. Take a moment to remember the ones who didn’t come home.

Remember and Honor all those who went before – they are the foundation that our country is built on.

Memorial Day 2010

" when you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow we gave our today"

Reflect

“History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.”
General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Please pause for a moment today to reflect on all the freedoms we enjoy that were bought and paid for by the men and women of our Armed Forces.

They Are Our Families, Too.

At 11:36 p.m., PST, May 19, an HH-60 Seahawk helicopter went down off the coast of Southern California while conducting training operations with USS Nimitz (CVN 68).

There were five crew members on board. Three are confirmed deceased. The U.S. Coast Guard and Navy continue search and rescue efforts for the remaining two crew members. Names of the crew members are not being released until notification of next of kin.

It is not only war that takes them from us, but the preparation for war. Only the families of the Fallen can truly know the cost.

Take a moment, this Memorial Day, to reflect on all the blessings we have in this great country and think of the Men and Women who paid for those blessings with their lives and the families who pay every day with the absence of their loved ones.

Poppies for our Fallen

“We Shall Keep The Faith”

Oh! You who sleep in Flanders’ fields,
Sleep sweet – to rise anew;
We caught the torch you threw;
And holding high we kept
The faith with those who died.
We cherish, too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valour led.
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders’ Fields.
And now the torch and poppy red
Wear in honour of our dead
Fear not that ye have died for naught
We’ve learned the lesson that ye taught
In Flanders’ Fields.
